Anyone can make a mistake. But, when doctors, nurses, and other health care providers make a mistake, the effects can be devastating. In fact, according to the National Academy of Sciences, nearly 100,000 Americans die from “medical mistakes” each year.
A wrongful death action refers to a death that was caused by the fault of another person. For example, deaths caused by drunk driving, the manufacture of a defective or dangerous product, failure to diagnose a fatal disease, or the improper construction of a building, may be considered under the law as wrongful deaths. Family members or beneficiaries of the deceased person generally file wrongful death lawsuits or claims. In some cases, these claims are filed in order to obtain monetary damages to cover the earnings the deceased person would have provided.
Lead is a highly toxic metal that is found naturally in small quantities throughout the environment. Lead poisoning is a preventable condition caused by occupational or environmental exposure to lead and is often a result of inhalation or ingestion of lead dust or fumes. Once ingested or inhaled, lead moves through the bloodstream and organs to the bones where it is stored.
