Ford introduces the 2009 F-150.

Ford has come out with the 2009 version of its best selling truck, the F-150. The F-150 has a formidable reputation of being the best selling vehicle in the US for 23 years, and of being most sold truck for over three decades.

The 2009 F-150 has many new features; it is now available in seven trims, inclusive of a luxury Platinum trim, which is a replacement for the Lincoln Mark LT. It is offered in three cab styles: Regular, Extended and Crew Cab. This year’s model also has slightly enhanced fuel efficiency; more bed styling configurations and some changes to the exterior styling. From 2009, Ford will no longer make F-150’s with manual transmission.

Engine

The 2009 Ford F-150 is offered in seven models. These are XL; STX; XLT; FX4; Lariat; King Ranch and Platinum. It is available in a 4.6-liter V8 and a 5.4-liter V8 that can run on ethanol. These engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and come with an all-wheel drive as well.

Interiors and exteriors

For 2009, the height has gone up by a couple of inches; the nose has got squarer; as are the grille and hood. Each of the trims is given a unique finish. The trims are given 12 different wheel options, ranging from 17 to 20 inches in diameter. Two manually telescoping/folding outside trailer mirrors are another of the F-150’s exterior features.

In the cargo box, a step props out to make climbing in and getting out easier; also offered is a side-step that can be popped up by the touch of a button and a stowable split bed extender. Other features given for the interiors include the first Integrated Trailer Brake Controller ever given for a light-duty pickup; AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control; an optional backup camera and Sync with 911 Assist.

A navigation system that displays real-time traffic and best gas prices in nearby stations using an eight-inch touch-screen is an optional feature.

Safety Features

For safety, the 2009 Ford F-150 is given antilock brakes; front airbags, which include side curtain airbags to protect front and backseat occupants; and an electronic stability system with traction control and Roll Stability Control.
